Sustainable Packaging: What's Actually Changing in 2026

Sustainability requirements are moving from "nice to have" to a baseline expectation from retailers and regulators alike. A few practical shifts worth planning for this year:

Glass is infinitely recyclable — use that

Glass can be recycled again and again without losing quality, which makes it a strong starting point for any sustainability claim. Ask your supplier about cullet (recycled glass) content in the bottles and jars you buy, and confirm it early if a retailer requires a minimum percentage.

Lightweighting without losing strength

Glass walls have been getting thinner for years, cutting both material use and shipping weight — but there's a floor where a lighter bottle risks chipping or breaking in transit. We test wall thickness against your fill and handling conditions before recommending a lighter option.

Matching closures for easier recycling

Closures, labels, and bottles made from fewer mixed materials are far easier to separate and recycle at scale. Where possible, we recommend matching your closure material and finish to your bottle or jar.

None of this needs to mean a full redesign — often it's a case of swapping in an equivalent stock item with a lower environmental footprint. Ask us for the options available in your current bottle and jar range.
